Feeding Therapy
Our therapists are trained to provide treatment to the diverse populations requiring feeding therapy. We enjoy working in a “team” approach while treating our clients alongside physicians, nutritionists, nurses and other therapists such as Occupational, Physical, Behavioral, Recreation, and Respiratory Therapists.
Specific feeding issues a child may experience include:
- Sensory based feeding disorders
- Rigidity/Behavioral based feeding disorders
- Dysphagia
- Oral Motor
- Failure to thrive/poor weight gain
- NG-tube/J-tube/G-tube feeding/transitioning/weaning
Many parents come to us with frustrations and anxieties that the stress of a feeding disorder places on their entire family. Extreme pickiness and selectivity, food/drink refusal, difficulty/inability to chew and swallow food, “pocketing”, gagging/vomiting, fear of food and miserable mealtime behaviors are typical “symptoms” that our clients exhibit. Our goal is to treat the problem, not the symptoms, and prepare our clients for a lifetime of success and pleasure when it comes to eating.
