We also participate with the Gulf Central Early Steps Program for children ages Birth – 3. This program is an excellent resource for families as it provides State funded services in the event private insurance policies deny coverage.
+ What will my child be doing in therapy?
Treatment will vary widely depending on your child’s age and diagnosis.
Infants/toddlers: Treatment for this age group is considered early intervention. Our philosophy is to target areas of concern as early and as intensely as possible. We strive to prevent tomorrow’s problems today. Many of our youngest clients receive feeding and swallowing treatment. For these children, it is a priority to intervene at a young age. The sooner they begin therapy, the higher their potential is to overcome any difficulties, delays, and aversions.
Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten: At this age, speech, phonological and language delays and disorders become evident. Our goal is to correct as many areas as we can before children reach Kindergarten when delays begin to have a social and academic impact. It is also much more convenient to attend therapy when there are no academic barriers versus missing class time for therapy sessions. As well, squeezing in therapy appointments when extracurricular/after school activities become the norm is cumbersome for parents. We have many clients with diagnoses, syndromes and developmental delays that will require more time in therapy. It is important for them to continue or begin treatment during this developmentally rich stage in their lives.
School age children: Some children require long-term treatment. Others have speech and language concerns that have not been corrected. Many children need assistance through their school experience to maximize their potentials and abilities. We gladly assist our clients for as long as they need our help and work with parents and teachers on a regular basis to promote successful outcomes.
